Microsoft Security Essentials, the free Microsoft antivirus software for Windows Vista and Windows 7, has always been a firm “better than nothing” option. Is Microsoft Security Essentials a good antivirus program? So, I wouldn’t recommend using the free version. The free version comes with only limited features and may slow down your PC, and even turn into a threat itself under the worst-case scenarios. Avast is safe but only when you have the Premium version of the antivirus. Yes, Avast is safe 99 out of 100 times you use it. Anti-Malware Protection… Both companies can protect your computer equally well, as shown by two different malware protection tests. Kaspersky has some good stuff, but Norton takes the field with its comprehensive firewall right from the start and its excellent spread of identity-protection tools. Kaspersky also has pretty good web protection features, including decent anti-phishing protection and extras like a secure browser, virtual keyboard, and anti-tracking protection.
